Sri Ganapati Homam — frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Ganapati Pooja and Ganapati Homam?
Ganapati Pooja is worship with flowers, naivedyam and aarti. Ganapati Homam adds the fire ritual with mantras and offerings, and is considered more powerful for removing obstacles.
Can Ganapati Homam be done at home?
Yes. A small homa kundam is used and the fire is kept controlled. We suggest opening windows and temporarily covering the nearest smoke detector.
Can it be combined with other homams?
Yes — Ganapati Homam is often done first, followed by Navagraha, Sudarshana or Lakshmi homams.
